Cromer Pier from Overstrand Aug 2026
It’s been quiet on here, and apologies for that! Work has been very busy this past year, and by the time the weekend came round the camera often stayed in the bag. Blog posts and processing slipped down the list too, but I think also did my motivation.
I’m not sure it was entirely a bad thing. Over the summer I finally managed a proper break and (perhaps I needed one) and some of the old inspiration crept back. I caught myself noticing the light on the walk around the fields, and challenged myself to re-start mentally framing things again, and looking to get out. Henri Cartier-Bresson stepped back from the camera later in life to return to drawing, so I’m in good company.
Ansel Adams reckoned that “twelve significant photographs in any one year is a good crop”, which is reassuring after the year I’ve had!
I’m not promising dawn starts every week (see my last couple of posts for why), but I’m back out with the camera and have a few ideas brewing. Expect more here in due course. This image from Overstrand this summer is one I'm pleased with.
Thanks for sticking around.
