There are two parts of the year that I find most challenging. The first is the last weeks of July and early August. I'm not keen enough for the early dawns and I find (unless you get a good storm) the light can be rather flat. So it tends to be the time of year to go sailing. The other part of the year is late February. For vista's the landscape can appear really flat and dull.
I do look out for lovely mornings, like this one at the water meadows near where I live. The other thing that I look for are the first snowdrops and the church yards are a great place for that. I've found that closeups and macros are a good second best to landscapes when the light doesn't really want to play. (Lots of compositional options) Recently we've had a run of grey and cold so the inspiration isn't really there. Still there's always spring to look forward to (and February is a short month!!)
